The Hula Hoop was originally a bamboo exercise ring (A) used in gym classes in Australia. In 1957, an Australian company began selling the ring, (B) which attracted the attention of a small California toy manufacturer named Wham-O. Wham-O began producing a plastic version, naming it a Hula Hoop after the motion (C) it resembled with ¡ª the Hawaiian hula dance. Wham-O introduced it to the American public in January 1958, and during the year over 20 million were sold. The Hula Hoop was a fad item, though. A brief comeback occurred in 1965, when Wham-O introduced the ¡°Shoop-Shoop¡± Hula Hoop, (D) with ball bearings to it to make noise, but it just wasn't the same. ¾îÈÖ´Â µ¿ÀǾ ã´Â ¹®Á¦°¡ 2¹®Á¦, ¹ØÁ٠ģ ºÎºÐÀÇ Ç®À̰¡ À߸øµÈ °ÍÀ» °í¸£´Â ¹®Á¦°¡ 1¹®Á¦, ¹ØÁ٠ģ ´Ü¾î¿Í Àǹ̰¡ ´Ù¸¥ °ÍÀ» °í¸£´Â ¹®Á¦°¡ 4¹®Á¦ ÃâÁ¦µÇ¾ú´Ù.
